In a spirited National Energy Conservation Day celebration, students across Narayana Schools embraced this year’s theme — ‘Powering Sustainability: Every Watt Counts.’ The event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of energy conservation and how small actions contribute significantly to a sustainable future.

The day began with an engaging session in which students became energy detectives, identifying energy wastage within their school premises. As they explored, they demonstrated practical applications of energy-saving techniques. One student remarked, “This theme is a simple reminder—small actions can make a big difference. Together, we can protect our planet, save energy, and build a better future.”

During the event, students pointed out a running fan in an empty classroom. One enthusiastic student from Narayana eChamps exclaimed, “Look here! A running fan in an empty classroom. A classic example of energy wastage.” The fan was promptly switched off, followed by a cheerful reminder: “Remember, always switch off fans and lights when leaving a room.”

Their quest continued in the computer lab where another student identified an “energy vampire” — a computer left running unnecessarily. With quick action, the computer was turned off, reinforcing the lesson: “We must switch off electronics when not in use.” These practical demonstrations underscored the significance of everyday energy-saving habits.

The event also educated students about India’s contributions to energy conservation and the role of renewable energy sources. One student explained passionately, “India is actively focusing on renewable energy sources like solar power and wind energy. The government’s initiatives are aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development.”

Students were particularly inspired by the Bhadla Solar Park in Rajasthan, the world’s largest solar project. A student shared with excitement, “Did you know that India’s Bhadla Solar Park covers 14,000 acres and is a global showcase of innovation in renewable energy?” This sparked discussions about the potential of solar energy in reducing dependency on conventional power sources.

Reflecting on the event, Dr. P. Sindhura, Director of Narayana Educational Institutions, stated, “National Energy Conservation Day teaches our students that small, mindful actions can drive immense change. At Narayana Schools, we are committed to instilling these values and preparing our students to lead sustainable lives.”

Adding to this, Ms. P. Sharani, Director of Narayana Educational Institutions, expressed, “Our goal is to empower students with the knowledge and habits that contribute to energy conservation. These activities are not just lessons for today but life skills for a greener tomorrow.”

The day concluded with a powerful message: “National Energy Conservation Day reminds us that small actions lead to big changes. Whether it’s switching off lights, unplugging devices, or using renewable energy sources, every choice can make a difference. Save energy, save the future, and dream big, because, at Narayana, your dreams are our dreams.
